High Court Legal Services, Bengaluru conducts first virtual Lok Adalat disposes 31 cases
July 19, 2020, SaturdayAnjana GopinathThe High Court Legal Services Committee of Bengaluru conducted the first virtual Lok Adalat this week through video conferencing, battling the circumstances faced during the continuing pandemic. The press release further states that the Bench comprised of Chairman, Justice Alok Aradhe and Conciliator, Vijay Kumar Patil, and was able to dispose of 31cases relating to two insurance companies. The Lok Adalat Bench also awarded a compensation of Rs. 62,95,000 to the victims of motor vehicle accidents.
The press release also states that the first virtual Lok Adalat in Karnataka was conducted with the able support and guidance of Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka as well as Justice Aravind Kumar. Furthermore, the issued press release urges advocates and litigant public to make use of the virtual Lok Adalat facility during the pandemic period.
Virtual Lok Adalats have made a noteworthy appearance this month, as an e-Lok Adalat was organized in Chhattisgarh, by following precautionary measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic, for disposing of the pending cases.
